I’ve done it I have finished my book. Well not quite, I’ve finished the first draft. 90554 words of it. The last chapter proved to be a bit of a pig and I’m not that happy with it at the moment but it will have to do. I was trying to remember when I started, I can’t recall but I know it was over a year ago. We had a little celebration last night now I have the hard job of the re-writes. I set my self the goal of getting that done by September but will have to see how I get on.
I have my idea ready for the second book but I must get this one ready to publish first.
Congratulations Eric!

Congratulations! As you say, the real hard work starts now but that does not undermine what a fabulous achievement it is to have completed your first draft. Cheers!

Congratulations! Remember, not many people even make it to this stage, so this is already a super achievement! Keep it going.

Such an amazing feeling, like the sigh on a cold day, when you slip exhausted in the depths of a warm bath. It is two years since my first draft. I am revising and editing and editing and revising … I don’t worry about how long it takes just that it will be right. 😇

Hip Hip Horay! I need to follow in your footsteps. That “finishing” thing is a bear, isn’t it?
LOVE the fact that you teach special needs, btw – and that you have a foster son. Thanks for following my blog or I might never have been aware you existed. I’m looking forward to a long bloggy friendship.

Thanks. The way I finished is to write a bit every day. Thanks for the follow and good luck with your book.

lol – I write every day too – but blogging on various topics isn’t helping me finish a book on ONE. So – I look to you as my hero.

Ar, I know that feeling I thought I’d finished years ago, then I set to finding a publisher. They had constructive criticisms and I had a pile of new ideas – the result – re-write. Now after the re-write and endless editing it emerged from the chrysalis marvellous and fulsome.

Hi sorry it’s taken me nearly a year to reply! After a break I’m about to embark on another re-write I hope yours is going well.
