There are some people who are a joy to be with, hanging out with them makes life a happier place. There are some, whoever, who are the opposite of this. People who just suck the very joy from life. Doesn’t matter how well you are doing they will do their up-most to bring you down. I have seen them described as toxic people but I prefer to think of them as dementors. Not just because I have a mild obsession with Harry Potter but prolonged exposure to these people will rob you of you powers and take your very soul.
There is a lot in the blogging world about cutting these people from your life but this is not always possible. Through different circumstance you may have to encounter these people on a regular basis. So how does one fight against these horrors? I wish I knew. If was a more confident person I could use a patronus of self-worth to repel their negative thought. Unfortunately, I am not and have, at times, allowed them to drag to depths of despair (O.K. that was a bit over dramatic). There is nothing for it I will have to eat more chocolate. 70% cocoa of course I’ve not sunk that low yet!
Well of course – with enough chocolate almost anything can be overcome. The higher the percentage of cocoa, btw, the greater the percentage of flavonoids – which are GREAT for brain health. So snack on!
I’m with you on “dementors” – much more descriptive and befittingly evil sounding that “trolls.”

You have made me want to eat the last bit of chocolate for breakfast but I shall resist!

Wait, at least, until the shops are open and you can replenish your supply. It never bodes well to allow oneself to run completely out.

I wish eating a little chocolate would rid me from life’s dead weight people. However, I like the idea of using it as a distraction. 🙂

Eric, I just had to re-blog this. I hope you don’t mind. I enjoy interjecting humor into a serious subject as a way of making your point. Thank you.

Hmm… I think it’s always possible to cut those people out of our lives. I’ve cut off a whole side of my family twice in my life for that, including a parent, and in-laws.

Conjure that patronus and banish those dementors! And eat chocolate, obviously…
